Smart Driving

A system to reduce the consume of fuel driving in the city.

Project Proposal

1. High-level project introduction and performance expectation

Driving in the city generates a lot of pollution because cars are constantly stopping and starting. In addition, fuel consumption is high. To solve this problem, I propose a system that allows the user to change her/his way of driving.

The proposed system will memorize how the user drives and will offer alternatives so that he can do it more efficiently. The use will be as follows: the driver will use the system during all the journeys she/he makes. While driving, the system will store the data obtained by its sensors. At the end of the route, the system will process the data in Azure, offering the driver a report with the aspects that can be improved.

I will use the sensor "Electromecanichal gas detection" to obtain data of the expulsion of gases from the vehicle; the “Channel light detection” sender to know if it is day or night; the “delta sigma ADC” sensor to obtain fuel consumption; and the “Temperature, Current and Voltage” sensor to obtain the engine temperature.

To promote its use, the system will offer rewards to those drivers who improve their driving. In addition, we can add our friends to compete.

The expected performance is a 5% reduction in fuel consumption for each driver who uses it. The more drivers that use it, the higher the overall performance of the system.

3. Expected sustainability results, projected resource savings

It is expected to save on fuel and pollution since it will avoid sudden acceleration and braking.

Although this system is designed in cars that consume fossil fuels, it can also be used in electric cars.
